Storm Cheer Staff

 

All Storm Cheer coaches have IASF certification as well as Standard First Aid with CPR certification. Coaches have a minimum 4 years of coaching experience.

All coaches are members of the Manitoba Cheer Federation. All coaches have had reference checks, Criminal Record Checks as well as Child Abuse Checks. At Storm Cheer, we are committed to excellence in coaching and ensuring the highest standards of safety are in place for our athletes.


 

Program Directors

Carrie Robson

Carrie Robson has over 15 years cheerleading experience as a competitive coach & athlete. She has been coaching the University of Manitoba Bison Cheerleading Team for the past 8 years, and has 3 years of previous experience as an athlete for the University of Regina Rams Cheerleading Team. In the past 3 years, Carrie has witnessed the University of Manitoba break into the competitive stage by winning 2 International 1st place finishes at the International Sea to the Sky Cheerleading Competition in Vancouver, first place finishes at Cheer Expo in Halifax and University and Open National Cheerleading Championships in Toronto, as well as, received recognition from Mayor Sam Katz by awarding the team with a medal for Outstanding Achievement in 2008 and certificates of Outstanding Achievement in 2010. As a competitive athlete Carrie received numerous awards across Alberta, Saskatchewan & Manitoba, and was awarded the MVP for cheerleading in her grade 12 year. She is CPR & IASF/USASF Level 5 certified, and has attended various cheerleading workshops across Canada. Carrie has a Bachelors of Environmental Design, and is currently working on obtaining her certification & stamp for Interior Design. 

 

Nadia El-Gabalawy

Nadia El-Gabalawy has 12 years of coaching experience in gymnastics and cheerleading including coaching the University of Manitoba Bison Cheerleading Team for the past three years. She was an artistic gymnastics coach as well as a tumbling and trampoline coach at numerous gymnastics facilities in Canada and the United States. She was a gymnastics coach for the 2007 Western Canadian Gymnastics Championships for two divisions of Team Manitoba. She received a medal of Outstanding Achievement from Mayor Sam Katz for the 2007-2008 accomplishments of the U of M Bison Cheerleading team as well as a certificate of Outstanding Achievement in 2010. She is First Aid/CPR C Certified, USASF/IASF certified up to Level 5 in all areas and NCCP certified (level 1, 2 and 3) in gymnastics. She is the artistic gymnastics coach of Manitoba Fusion; a team headed to World Gymnaestrada for the 2011 Gymnaestrada in Lausanne, Switzerland. She runs tumbling clinics and camps for teams throughout Manitoba and has attended cheerleading workshops throughout Canada. Nadia has a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology (University of Manitoba, 2005) and works for the Canadian Network for Public Health Intelligence at the National Microbiology Laboratory.

Jade Griffiths

 

Jade Griffiths is entering her 3rd year at the University of Manitoba and 3rd year on the Manitoba Bison team. She has 12 years of gymnastics experience, 5 years of coaching experience, 3 years of gymnastics judging experience and 4 years of experience in choreography and routine formation.  Jade is IASF certified to Level 2.
