Storm Cheer Tryouts

Storm Cheer will be holding our 2011-2012 tryout on September 6th. The tryout will be 6pm - 8pm at the Waverley Heights Community Centre (1885 Chancellor Drive). A tryout package will be posted HERE. Please bring the tryout package with you on September 6th. 

The team will be ages 12-18yrs; Senior (birthdays are as of August 31 2011). There are no requirements although cheerleading and/or gymnastics experience are an advantage. The tryout will consist of jump combinations, stunting progressions, flexibility and strength testing as well as tumbling.

The Storm Cheer team is competitive team that will travel out of province/country for cheerleading competitions as well as compete locally. The Storm Cheer team is a member of the Manitoba Cheer Federation and supports the development of cheerleading in the province of Manitoba. Storm has competed in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.

At Storm Cheer, we believe in selecting the appropriate level for our athletes and enabling the team to progress and excel throughout the season. We believe in educating our coaches through clinics, credentialing and high calibre competitions. The Storm team works closely with the University of Manitoba Cheerleading program and we promote the pursuit of post secondary education, long term athlete development and long term coach development.

The Storm team competed numerous times the 2010-2011 season. The team was undefeated in Manitoba, placed 1st in the Warman Classic in Saskatoon, placed 2nd in the Huskie Open in Saskatoon and a 2nd at the Cheer Evolution Nationals in Niagara Falls, Ontario. We believe in exposing our athletes to various types of cheerleading and this season our team competed in Stunt Groups and one of Manitoba's newest divisions, the Duo competition.
